5α-ANDROSTAN-3α-OL-17-ONE SULPHATE, SODIUM SALT (Androsterone Sulfate) is a pheromone clinically recognized as one of the major androgen metabolites found in urine. Chemically related to Androsterone and DHEA(s) in structure. Scientific insights reveal this steroid hormone is sexual by design moreover works to reduce body aging. It is recommended females use less than men, but with proper blending techniques our lady testers have applied as much as 10 mcg per spray. As a standalone pheromone molecule the same ladies propose no more than 2.5 mcg per spray. Our male enthusiasts and researchers have applied as much as 50 mcg and sometimes above with excellent results.

Steroids excreted by human skin. II. C19-steroid sulphates in human axillary sweat.

Beside dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate and androsterone sulphate, 5-androstene-3 beta, 17 beta-diol-3-sulphate and testosterone sulphate were isolated and identified from the axillary sweat of sexually mature women and men. The quantities of these four C19-steroid sulphates were determined individually in the sweat of eight healthy, sexually mature women and men: dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate was found in the highest amount, it was followed by 5-androstene-3 beta, 17 beta-diol-3-sulphate and androsterone sulphate. Testosterone sulphate occurred in the lowest quantity, its excretion amounting to about one-thousandth of that of dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate. Study of the C19-steroid sulphates excreted by the apocrine sweat glands permitted an insight into the steroid metabolism in human skin, which presumably is, closely connected with the steroid hormones of peripheral blood.

Androsterone sulfate: physiology and clinical significance in hirsute women.

Androsterone sulfate (Andros-S) is the most abundant 5 alpha-reduced androgen metabolite in serum. To determine whether this steroid could serve as a marker of 5 alpha-reductase activity, we developed a specific RIA, using tritiated Andros-S to assess procedural losses. Baseline serum Andros-S levels (mumol/L; mean +/- SEM) in 14 hirsute women (3.0 +/- 0.4) were not reduced by ovarian suppression with leuprolide (3.0 +/- 0.3), but were decreased by 79% with combined ovarian and adrenal suppression with leuprolide and dexamethasone. The mean Andros-S level in polycystic ovarian syndrome (3.2 +/- 0.4) and in idiopathic hirsutism (3.5 +/- 0.5) was not significantly different from levels in normal women (3.0 +/- 0.5), but were significantly greater than levels in obese women (1.7 +/- 0.3; P < 0.05). The serum concentrations of Andros-S were about 10-fold greater than those of androsterone glucuronide and 100-fold greater than those of androstanediol glucuronide. Serum Andros-S concentrations correlated strongly with dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (R = 0.59; P < 0.001) and to a lesser degree with androstanediol glucuronide and androsterone glucuronide (R = 0.28 and 0.49, respectively). There was a weak correlation with androstenedione levels and the androstenedione response to ACTH (R = 0.38 and 0.34, respectively), and no significant correlation with serum testosterone (R = 0.19). The ratio of any of the 5 alpha-reduced products (Andros-S, androstanediol glucuronide, and androsterone glucuronide) to precursors (androstenedione and testosterone) was not increased in hirsute women, suggesting that these women did not have a generalized increase in 5 alpha-reductase activity. In conclusion, these results confirm that Andros-S is the most abundant 5 alpha-reduced androgen metabolite in serum. It is primarily, if not exclusively, of adrenal origin in hirsute women. The fact that its levels were not elevated in hirsutism, although those of other adrenal androgens and androgen metabolites (androstanediol glucuronide and androsterone glucuronide) were, suggests that variations in sulfotransferase activity or metabolic clearance of Andros-S may be important determinants of serum Andros-S levels. Although Andros-S may be a marker of systemic 5 alpha-reductase activity, there was no evidence of a generalized increase in 5 alpha-reductase activity in hirsute women. Andros-S is therefore not recommended as a marker of either adrenal androgen production or of hirsutism.

Metabolomic profiles in individuals with negative affectivity and social inhibition: a population-based study of Type D personality.
Individuals with negative affectivity who are inhibited in social situations are characterized as distressed, or Type D, and have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The underlying biomechanisms that link this psychological affect to a pathological state are not well understood. This study applied a metabolomic approach to explore biochemical pathways that may contribute to the Type D personality.
Type D personality was determined by the Type D Scale-14. Small molecule biochemicals were measured using two complementary mass-spectrometry based metabolomics platforms. Metabolic profiles of Type D and non-Type D participants within a population-based study in Southern Germany were compared in cross-sectional regression analyses. The PHQ-9 and GAD-7 instruments were also used to assess symptoms of depression and anxiety, respectively, within this metabolomic study.
668 metabolites were identified in the serum of 1502 participants (age 32-77); 386 of these individuals were classified as Type D. While demographic and biomedical characteristics were equally distributed between the groups, a higher level of depression and anxiety was observed in Type D individuals. Significantly lower levels of the tryptophan metabolite kynurenine were associated with Type D (p-value corrected for multiple testing=0.042), while no significant associations could be found for depression and anxiety. A Gaussian graphical model analysis enabled the identification of four potentially interesting metabolite networks that are enriched in metabolites (androsterone sulfate, tyrosine, indoxyl sulfate or caffeine) that associate nominally with Type D personality.
This study identified novel biochemical pathways associated with Type D personality and demonstrates that the application of metabolomic approaches in population studies can reveal mechanisms that may contribute to psychological health and disease.

Androsterone sulfate increases dentate gyrus population spike amplitude following tetanic stimulation.

We studied the effects of the androgenic hormone, androsterone sulfate, a 17-ketosteroid, on long term potentiation in the dentate gyrus (DG) of urethane anesthesized rats. Intravenous injection of 10 mg of the hormone dissolved in Nutralipid produced a significant increase of the population spike (PS), but not of the excitatory post-synaptic potentials (EPSP). The results are discussed in terms of the potential enhancement that androsterone sulfate may have on memory as was described for one of its parent compounds, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and its potential use as an antidepressant.
